Hi there for sale is this very rare and collectable ‘first edition series one’ Roy Kelly F355 Replica with quite an interesting history.

The production of this kit was stopped by the company who make the original of the car (sorry not allowed to say their name) who sued Roy Kelly on copyright infringement. This has made this edition/series of the kit rare and sought after.

This particular kit was found un-built in the garage of an old man after he passed away.


I purchased the car from the chairman of the ‘South West Cruise’ club. From what he could find out the car was converted to the F355 replica approx 4 years ago and since then extensive work has been carried out on the car. Photos of build on file. All the major work on the car has been carried out by specialist garages – A.P. Motors Ltd Plymouth and HYELINE performance of Cardiff.

Please note this is not a cheap ‘stick on body kit’ as so many of the new kits are. This is a full body replacement having most of its original body removed leaving only the strengtheners onto which the new bodywork has been fitted. Although not as perfect a replica as some of the newer kits this is THE ORIGINAL conversion and considered in some circles to still be the best.

The car had a full engine rebuild 12000 miles ago and is only just run in and purrs like a kitten. The engine was also strengthened including JE forged pistons. The engine has been treated with slick50 to reduce friction and increase engine longevity. The first thing I did when I bought the car was to have the gearbox overhauled as the synchro on 2nd gear was weak as is often the case with the MR2. Then I changed the alloys as the aftermarket alloys on the car did not look the part. The new wheels are much more authentic and suit the car perfectly. At the same time I had the suspension replaced with Tein super street coilovers. These are fully adjustable and at the moment they are set to soft setting for everyday use I had no intention to use the car on a track. Then I had a full stainless steel exhaust system fitted to the car which sounds great and finishes the car off nicely. I have had various other bits and bobs done to the car. Last month i had the chance of a turbo off a car that had only covered 31000 miles so i paid £1300 to have this fitted to the car (old turbo will be listed for sale on ebay soon). This week the car has had new leads and an engine flush and new oil at a cost of £225.00. The car needs no money spending on it at all. I have fitted an imobilser and top quality touch screen dvd player.

The car has a custom leather interior, DVD/PS2 upgraded speakers etc……

The car was built as a show car and was used as a publicity car for the 2004 GUMBALL RALLY – see pictures - stickers now removed

I have now owned the car for just under 18 months and have not been able to use it as much as I had hoped and i would like to swap it for something interesting. Pref a convertible.
The car drives as amazing as it looks and returns 30-35mpg. After much shopping around and some ridiculous quotes I have managed to get the car insured with a specialist company (Footnam James) for under £200 per annum (mileage limited to 2500 miles per annum). So you really can run this car for the price of a Focus but look a million dollars. The car attracts a lot of admirers (so be prepared i have been subjected to a few photoshoots - great fun though!) and needs to be driven and enjoyed by someone who has the time. I know I will regret selling her but it seems such a waste that she spends 99% of her time sat on my driveway. Oh and last point it also comes with a tailor made cover to protect from the weather if you dont have a garage.
