Finance Manager
Job details: Finance Manager, Bridgend (temp to perm)
This is a full time job which will start on a temporary basis but will become permanent after 3 months. It is essential that you have completed or are working towards a professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPFA). The job will involve:
Financial Management
- Monitor and review monthly budget reports.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Completion of returns to various funders / commissioners as required.
- Assist with the administration of payroll, pensions, expenses, insurance and PHI as required.
- Assist with treasury management/investment and cash flow monitoring as required.
- Assist with year end statutory accounts preparation. Provision of Advice and Support
- Provide advice and support to budget holders (service managers) as required.
- Ongoing system administration of payroll system (Accord).
- Selection, implementation and on-going system administration of a new finance system to replace the current Sage Line 100 and link to current payroll system.
- Keep abreast of charity accounting and legislative changes Delivery of Financial Strategy
- Assist with the production of finance information for budgets, financial forecasts, reforecasts and packs for the Audit and Finance Committee (AFC) and Board.
- Take a lead on the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Liaise with external auditors, bankers, investment, insurance and pension advisors when required.

Skills and Experience required:
- Previous Experience of working in busy finance department
- Experience of implementing either a payroll or financial accounting system
- Knowledge of SAP Line 100 and /or Accord Payroll
- Knowledge of charity VAT and partial exemption
- Sound knowledge of financial legislation and best practice
- Knowledge of charity legislation (including SORP 2005) and best practice.
- Essential - Appropriate Accountancy qualification - ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CIPFA (will consider part qualification - at final stage).
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work alone and on ones own initiative
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to gather, process, and share complex financial information in formats to suit a variety of audiences.
- Ability to make informed and appropriate decisions
- Excellent ICT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, data manipulation, report writing and different accounting systems.
- Ability to communicate in Welsh would be an advantage.
