Ad Hoc Project Manager / IT Consultant - Wales.
£225-300 per day
A bit of a strange role this one, it definitely won't suit everyone but I'm working on behalf of a South Wales based company that is seeking a good, all-round Technical PM to work on an ad-hoc basis on a variety of tasks.
Our client carries out a range of business mapping exercises and needs someone reliable to call upon when they have a large amount of work coming up, like now. The projects may vary from basic 2 day reports which look at a companies IT diagnostics to much longer periods looking at a range of e-business projects.
You might be asked to research and advise on a new telephony system, plan and project manage an office move, advise on a new ERP system, spec out a bespoke system or remap a complete IT system.
This arrangement may suit you if you're comfortable with a little work now and again and not particularly looking for continuous work or if you carry out a wide range of different projects for your own clients when they require it.
You will probably come from a highly technical background with developed project management and documentation skills. Technical areas of interest include;
Providing clients with technical advice and guidance on wide range of ICT issues including:
. Identify areas where ICT can be used more effectively
. Development of requirements specifications for ICT solutions
. Preparing and maintaining project plans
. Implementation of ICT solutions including,
. Small Business Server, Domain Servers
. Microsoft Exchange
. Firewalls and ADSL connections
. Networking Infrastructure (Switches etc)
Other areas/skills that might be of interest include IT security, LAN/WAN/VPN, Virtualisation, eCommerce, Prince 2 and VoIP.
