My Lady and I are looking for travel buddies for a driving trip to Southern Spain near Gibraltar. Well be driving a campervan with room for 4 passengers besides us. We intend taking a week to do the trip. The places in France and Spain that we stop at have yet to be determined but we hoped to include Madrid as the last stop. We plan to visit three places on the way down camping for 2 nights at each one. The camper is only a 2 berth so well provide a good size tent s and sleeping equipment for those who join us. For peace of mind the van has a loo aboard. But there will be plenty of stops. We have an apartment in Spain and will be staying there for 2 weeks before driving back. So these are the holiday options 1) Drive down with us then return by air flying from Malaga or Gibraltar. The costs will be your share of the expenses which are fuel ferry food tolls and campsite fees. My best guestimate is around £120 and probably less. Plus your flight home of course. 2) Drive down with us and stay a week or 2. The costs are as above plus £15 per person per night to cover all the costs of the apartment and to include all your meals including packed lunches but excludes eating out. The only extras are your share of fuel and tolls on day trips. Granada Cadiz Seville are just some of the many places within day trip distance. Much nearer are Ronda Gibraltar Estepona for the market and Marbella. Also there are some places of historical interest in the region. Castillo de la Frontera Baelo Claudia and not far from the Ronda road the wonderful Cueva de la Pileta. At the end of your stay well get you to the airport. 3) You could simply fly to Spain and join us for a week or 2 then fly back or drive home with us. 4)The final option is to do the whole trip and drive back with us too. The trip home will be much shorter with little or no sightseeing. If you are going to fly back then clearly youll need to bring only a suitcase and carry-on. But if you live local to us we can bring back any excess baggage (except declarable items such as booze or ciggies) Were expecting to leave for Dover from Barry on the 6th September. Anyone wishing to fly in should book check the flights for Sunday 13th or Sunday 20th. Arranging flights for the same day each week ensures that we dont spend the holidays driving back-and-fore to the airport. Malaga is 60 miles from the apartment on a toll road so the fewer the times travelled the better. We can do transfers to and from the airport very cheaply provided they are on a Sunday. Any other day (if we are available to do it) will incur a charge of £45 which is the actual cost of the journey. The same trip in a taxi is around £100 I kid you not. A bit about us We are Andy and Linda both in our 50s non smokers We enjoy company pretty laid-back about most things. As we know the Southern Spain region very well were happy to act as tour guides. Were both very experienced drivers and have driven 10s of thousands of miles abroad. Between us our interests include photography skating diy guitar and piano travelling and history. This isnt a business for us. All we are doing is offering the opportunity for a cheap fun break thats a little different to the norm.
